Accessibility Statement

This statement covers thewayin.me: the public doctrine, library, and membership pages, the forum, the Academy courses, the Signal Integrity Map assessment, and the account and provider dashboards. It does not cover the SignalOS research engine at signal.thewayin.me, a separate gated application, or the MaxGen Labs methylation-test partner site linked from our Methylation page, which MaxGen operates and controls.

Our commitment

The Way In exists to make its educational model understandable and reachable. We want people who use a keyboard, screen reader, voice control, or other assistive technology to be able to read the doctrine, take the Signal Integrity Map, reach the forum, and manage an account. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-time claim.

What we have done

Concrete steps taken across the site so far:

Keyboard operability: the mobile menu toggle is a real, focusable button (aria-expanded, aria-label) that works with Tab and Enter or Space, not a mouse-only control, and the nav, forum, and account dashboards are built from real links and buttons rather than click-only elements.
Skip navigation: every managed page begins with a keyboard-visible "Skip to main content" link that moves focus to the page's labeled main region.
Visible focus: an outline is intended to show the control currently focused by a keyboard across navigation links, buttons, the FAQ accordion, and the mega-menu. Page-by-page accessibility verification remains ongoing.
Motion sensitivity: hero animations, button glow effects, and the nav's animated highlight are all disabled automatically for visitors whose device is set to prefer reduced motion.
Screen-reader labeling: the logo mark is hidden from screen readers as a decorative element, the mobile-menu toggle and email fields carry a text label, and interactive controls are real semantic elements rather than styled divs.
Color contrast: our muted text color on dark panels was deliberately lightened to clear the WCAG AA 4.5:1 contrast guideline, and this is checked, not assumed, when the palette changes.

Where we stand today

We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We have not commissioned an independent, professional accessibility audit or certification, so we are not claiming full or certified WCAG conformance today. We are not using an accessibility overlay or widget as a substitute for fixing the underlying page; the steps above are changes to the pages themselves.

Honest gap: the skip link and main-region focus target are now present across the managed pages, but some deeper journeys, including forum threads and member dashboards, have not yet had an independent page-by-page assistive-technology review. If you run into something that does not work well with a keyboard or assistive technology, please tell us, we would rather know and fix it.
